Sir Ranulph Fiennes, the World’s Greatest Living Explorer. The first person to circumnavigate the world pole to pole, the oldest Briton to have climbed Everest, and the only person to have crossed both the North and South Poles and conquered the World’s highest mountain.
We were lucky enough to see him give a talk on his latest tour, Living Dangerously in Leeds, and it was a great evening!
He spoke about motivation… where it comes from within you, how it drives you to do things you never thought possible and pushes you to achieve your ambitions and dreams.
His talk was enthralling, engaging, encouraging, and entertaining… regaling us with tales from his school days at Eton, joining the army and then the SAS, and his subsequent discharge for planning to blow up a film set.
How he started with his expeditions and adventures which he is so famous for, how his wife found that nobody had ever circumnavigated the globe before so they could set this record, and then how they strived for more and more in competition with the “damn Norwegians”.
To say we felt inspired would be an understatement… to travel more, to explore more, and make our ambitions, i.e., TrovenTrip, a success!
This has been a slightly different blog for us… not exactly a travel blog… but we highly recommend going to see “Ran” on his tour or if you get another chance.
