A relaxing visit to Dunham Massey in Cheshire on a lovely sunny day in late June led to a couple of very pleasant surprises. The National Trust property is famous for its large Georgian house, gardens and deer park but it’s not often you see a gathering of deer resting so close to the main footpath and apparently oblivious to the crowd of visitors happily snapping their picture.
Moving on, a wander into the gardens was rewarded by sights of a huge plethora of colourful flora but the highlight was sight of spectacular and very rare giant lilies. What luck that we visited during the few days they flower in their lifetime, waiting until their seventh year when they shoot up more than 2 metres high and display their beauty for such a short time. Take a look at the photos.
If you are very quick and get yourself along to Dunham Massey you might still be able to catch sight of these incredible flowers. Find it at WA14 4SJ.
