Bangers and Cash… the Classic Car Auction and Museum

Driving from Scarborough to Pickering on my way up into the North Yorkshire Moors I stumbled upon a gem of a place… passing what looked like a normal used car sales garage, something caught my eye and didn’t look quite right, and when I turned around to investigate, I found Matthewson’s Classic Car Auction and Museum.

For those who have read my previous blogs you’ll know I love my cars and driving, so to stumble upon a classic car museum containing cars ranging from late-90’s favourites like a Jaguar XKR, all the way back to Morris Minor which was my dad’s first ever car, was a real find!

The place is also the star of a TV show called Bangers and Cash… a reality show following the Matthewson family and their auction business (available to watch on UKTV Play https://uktvplay.uktv.co.uk/shows/bangers-and-cash/watch-online/6039834651001)

The museum is still closed at the moment due to Covid but a lot of the cars can be seen on the forecourt and in the yard at the back, and was the perfect way to take a break and stretch my legs on my road trip!

If you’re ever in the area and like cars I recommend stopping by here and checking out some of the classics on show!

The village is also really pretty and worth a wander around too, with lots of independent shops to check out.

Where is Matthewson’s Classic Car Auctions?
Roxby Garage, 8 Pickering Rd, Thornton Dale, Pickering YO18 7LHI’d suggest checking the website to ahead of your visit to see if the museum is open…
